PROMPT is a speech-language treatment technique that allows a trained therapist to manipulate a child's jaw, face and mouth, in order to place the musculature in position to produce speech sounds. PROMPT stands for Prompting for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets and is used in the moment of a communication exchange - i.e. as the child speaks. It is a particularly beneficial therapy for children experiencing a motor speech disorder such as dysarthria and/or apraxia. |
