H1N1 Update

With the resurgence of the H1N1 Virus in Southern Ontario, your team at blueballoon Health Services is taking proactive measures to minimize exposure to clients and staff. We are following the guidelines provided by local Regional Health Units, and recommend that all clients review the information provided as well. Please note, the H1N1 vaccination is a personal decision between you and your health care provider. Please contact him/her to discuss your options.

In addition, blueballoon staff are following recommendations provided by the Government of Canada and all staff have been provided with information regarding dates/times/locations of vaccination clinics.

For tips on general precautions you can take to stay healthy:

blueballoon has implemented the following procedures:
• Children and therapists will wash hands prior to the beginning of each session
• Antibacterial soap is available in the bathrooms, antibacterial gel is available in each therapy room
• Washrooms are cleaned twice daily
• Therapy rooms are cleaned after each session (tables, chairs, toys wiped down)

What can you do at home?:
• Know the symptoms of the flu. Fever of 100° Fahrenheit or 37.8° Celsius or greater, cough, sore throat, body aches, headaches, and fatigue.
• People with influenza-like illness should stay home for at least 24 hours after their fever is gone (without the use of fever-reducing medicine).
• Proper hygiene remains the best deterrent against the flu. We ask that you help reinforce proper hygiene with your children.

Cancellation Due to Fever:
Please provide as much notice as possible if you need to cancel a session. Children must be fever free for more than 24 hours (without medication) before attending a therapy session. Clients will not be charged a cancellation fee if a child has a fever and 24 hours is not possible.
