BEHAVIOUR THERAPY:

Program: Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Workshop
The Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training program is a holistic behaviour management system based on the philosophy of providing the best Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security for caregivers and those in their care, even during the most violent moments. The program focuses on preventing disruptive behaviour by communicating with individuals respectfully and with concern for their well-being. The program teaches physical interventions only as a last resort - when an individual presents an imminent danger to self or others - and all physical interventions taught are designed to be non-harmful, non-invasive, and to maintain the individual's dignity. Follow-up debriefing strategies are also key components of the training program.

Program: The Art of Parenting Group
Parenting is one of life`s most significant, challenging and rewarding experiences. In this parenting group, participants will learn a variety of strategies to develop their child`s sense of security, cooperate spirit, and positive behaviour at home and at school. The art of parenting is the ability to apply the right parenting strategy at the right time, to co-parent smoothly, and to feel a sense of effectiveness – at least most of the time! In this group, parents will learn positive parenting techniques tailored to each individual child, drawn from the work of Mary Main (attachment theory) Carolyn Webster-Stratton (Incredible Years Parenting Program), and Alan Kazdin (Parent Management Training). Parents will have opportunities in each session to share and discuss their own concerns and to practice new techniques. This group will be relevant to all parents of children aged 2 -12 who are motivated to develop their parenting knowledge and skills in a supportive group format.
