 Waterloo TeamMusic Therapist, WaterlooTaryn McKinnon holds an Honours Bachelor of Music Therapy degree with a major in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University. She is a professional member of both the Music Therapy Association of Ontario and Canadian Association for Music Therapy. She completed a 10-month music therapy internship at six schools within the Waterloo Region District School Board prior to receiving her accreditation from the Canadian Association for Music Therapy and has extensive experience working with children and adults with special needs including Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Global Developmental Delays, Speech and Language disorders, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome/Effects, Cerebral Palsy, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD). She is proficient on cello, guitar, piano and voice. Taryn is great at engaging young children. Kids and families love her and she is able to make work seem like fun for her young clients. |
